Barons Cambridge BMW joins top-tier companies supporting the Roar
The Cambridge Roar Festival, which kicks off this Friday 18th May with the Football Heroes Dinner, is delighted to announce that its newest sponsor is local BMW retailer Barons Cambridge.
Now in it’s fourth year, the Roar has attracted several large businesses as supporters and sponsors, including big name companies such as Moet & Chandon, Porsche, and Coco Cola.
Barons Cambridge is part of the Group 1 Automotive network, a well-established and growing automotive group in the UK, with offices in America and Brazil. Group 1 Automotive is the 10th largest dealership group in the UK, has a strong history of success and is still looking to grow their presence in the UK over the coming years.
Speaking about the decision to sponsor the Roar, Kevin Appleton, Head of Business at Barons Cambridge, said: “I am new to Cambridge and was keen to get our business and our staff more integrated in supporting the local community. As I was looking into this involvement, I met with Tony Murdock, the Roar Chairman, who gave mean overview of the Festival and the way it supports and promotes good causes that do amazing work and touch the hearts of all of us. It seemed a perfect fit for us.
“Clearly, raising funds is an important aspect and we are very proud to be able to play a small part of that within our community.
“As part of our sponsorship, we’re delighted to be able tosupply a BMW to help promote the Cambridge Roar. In addition, we’ll also besponsoring a range of Roar events throughout the summer.”
Tony Murdock, Founder and Chairman of the Cambridge Roar and Director of Quy Mill Hotel and Spa, where the Roar is based, said: “We are hugely grateful to Barons Cambridge and all our supporters and sponsors. Without them, the Festival just wouldn’t happen, and we wouldn’t be able to raise the money for the four fantastic charities we support.
“I think it is a real testament to Barons Cambridge, and all the other companies who work with the Roar, that they have a strong sense of social responsibility and really are committed to making a positive contribution to the communities where they are based.”
Now in its fourth year, the Cambridge Roar is the only Festival of its kind in the region. To date, the Festival has raised over £85,000 for local charities by staging a series of high-profile events, from glamorous dinners and glitzy balls to corporate games and boxing matches. 100% of the profits from these events are split between the chosen charities. Alongside providing a wide range of fun events for everyone to enjoy, the Roar also creates opportunities for businesses to network, entertain clients and reward staff.
The Festival kicks off next Friday with the Football Heroes Dinner, which includes a star panel of legends from the football world,including David Moyes, Steve Claridge, John Taylor and Cambridge United’s own Director of Football, Graham Daniels. The Dinner is the first of eight events taking place between 18th May and 22nd September 2018.
In 2018, the Roar’s chosen charities are East Anglian Air Ambulance, Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, Cambridge United Community Trust, and Racing Welfare.
